Report of the Breton National Party – Action Day on May 3, 2025, in Pontivy

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Breton National Party (PNB) marked a decisive turning point in its commitment to defending Breton identity, security, and sovereignty during a memorable day of action in Pontivy, Morbihan. Despite intimidation attempts by the radical left and an initial ban issued by Mayor Christine Le Strat, our determination and professionalism prevailed, enabling our vice-president, Hervé Archier, to proudly and powerfully carry the voice of Brittany before some fifteen nationalist militants and an attentive local population.

A Legal Victory for Freedom of Expression

Faced with the municipal decree banning our gathering, issued on April 30 under pressure from left-wing groups such as Génération.S 56, La France Insoumise, PCF Pontivy, and UDB Pondi Pourlet, the PNB immediately took legal action. Through an emergency freedom procedure led by our militants with the counsel of Maître Bonneau, the judge at the Rennes Administrative Court ordered the suspension of this repressive decree on May 2, citing insufficient justification and the feasibility of ensuring security through appropriate measures. This ruling upholds the inalienable right of Bretons to express themselves and strengthens our resolve to make our ideas heard, no matter the cost.

Exemplary Mobilization in the Face of Provocations

From 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, our organized and disciplined militants took to the weekly Pontivy market and its surroundings, distributing over a thousand leaflets to residents. The themes of insecurity and immigration, central to our message, resonated strongly with a population weary of the authorities’ inaction and the erosion of Breton identity. Discussions with locals revealed a clear demand for concrete solutions, which the PNB embodies with clarity and resolve.

At 11:00 AM, as our vice-president Hervé Archier prepared to speak at the foot of the Château des Ducs de Rohan, a symbol of Breton grandeur, some sixty far-left agitators attempted to disrupt the event. Their futile provocations were contained thanks to a robust gendarmerie deployment, put in place to maintain public order following the court’s ruling the previous day. Far from weakening our determination, these provocations bolstered our unity and conviction: Brittany will not be intimidated by those who scorn its people and its future.

A Powerful Speech, a Resounding Anthem

In a speech delivered with gravitas and clarity, Hervé Archier denounced the critical challenges threatening Brittany: rampant insecurity, uncontrolled immigration, and the sabotage of our culture by a failing French state. He called for immediate autonomy as a prerequisite for reclaiming our destiny, earning the support of both militants and onlookers present. This moment of unity and determination culminated in a solemn rendition of Bro Gozh Ma Zadoù, our national anthem, sung with fervor by all participants. This song, a symbol of our unwavering attachment to the land of our ancestors, rang out as a defiant challenge to those who would silence us.

The receptiveness of Pontivy’s residents was a powerful signal. Everywhere—on the market, in the streets—our ideas were met with interest, sometimes with enthusiasm. The locals, exasperated by the city’s security and cultural decline, saw in the PNB a credible political force, committed to offering firm solutions rooted in love for Brittany. This day demonstrated that our message, far from being marginal, responds to the deep aspirations of a people seeking dignity and sovereignty.

Towards a sovereign Breton future

The success of this day of action, despite the obstacles, is striking proof of the vitality of the PNB and its ability to mobilize with professionalism. For the loyalist left, it was a major setback. It had proclaimed that the PNB should not and could not carry out its day of action in Pontivy, putting pressure on the municipality to that effect. Despite a motley coalition of Melenchonists, anarcho-nihilists, red-green elements, regionalists affiliated to the Socialist Party and other immigrationist factions, the sixty or so anti-social agitators were unable to prevent the PNB from going ahead with its program. The media coverage of the day was massive, and the contacts made (hundreds to date) will enable the PNB to continue its work of recruitment and establishment.

Our thanks go to all our militants, whose discipline and commitment were exemplary, and to Hervé Archier for his eloquence and leadership. We also salute the impartiality of the magistrates and the control of the police forces present, who ensured the smooth running of the event despite the manifestly violent intentions of the ultra-left.

The PNB has emerged strengthened from this action, more determined than ever to pursue its fight for a free, secure Brittany, faithful to its identity. In Pontivy, on May 3 2025, we nationalist militants planted a seed that will germinate in the hearts of Bretons.

Together, let us continue to build the future of our nation, with courage and unity.
